--Wind tunnel test facility

In 1999, Suzuki Sport has built moving belt type wind tunnel facility inside design department in Hamamatsu factory. The reason for this is to analyze more deeply and to be responding quickly to this subject.

Suzuki Sport wind tunnel facility can use 1/3 scale model which is one of biggest facility (length 20m, width 10m, height 2.5m) in Japan. Also, it features moving belt type which the ground part is belt shaped which moves according to the speed. This creates the environment of car close to actual running situation and to analyze the airflow of between the car and the ground. It also has original turntable system to create angle for the car which in actual condition when the car is drifting sideways on high speed.(Suzuki Sport original design)



-What can be observed by wind tunnel facility

 
-Measuring air force
Measures out the value of drags and dynamic lift( the force occurs in vertical way, which usually called down force).
  -Observe the air flow around the car
To determine the body, spoilers and other outer body shape, smoke devices and threads are used to see the air flow.
     
 
-Observe the pressure distribution on body surface
From this observation, intake and exhaust ducts can be considered. Also, the pressure to the wings and spoilers can be measured which the stiffness can be determined.
  -Test for cooling effect
Cooling test for radiators and intercooler can be considered.



This facility is not only used by Suzuki Sport, but also renting for car companies and consulting, also different field like for example it has been used for testing new material wear for Olympic speed races(low drag material development).
